Volunteer Spotlight: Mimi Pippel
Although the Pippels have resided in Ashland, OR for many years, their roots and the fruits of their community activism are still here in Palmer. Both Mimi and Tony were heavily involved in fundraising and outreach for UWMS for many years, serving on the Fundraising committee and volunteering as needed. The Pippels are longtime donors as well, supporting UWMS efforts with financial contributions. Mimi began her journey with UWMS in the early 90s as a board member. Mimi served as the UWMS Board President in 1992, subsequently moving into a role as the 2003 United Way of Mat-Su Campaign Chair. That year, our campaign fundraising efforts exceeded her their goal by over $14,000!
Over the years, the Palmer community benefited tremendously from Mimi’s work in other arenas, including as the President of the Palmer Arts Council, PHS Music Boosters, and through she and Tony’s dedication to the Palmer Community Foundation.
One thing is certain: Mimi’s presence and expertise is sorely missed!
Thank you, Mimi!
