MAT-SU VOAD (VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN DISASTER:

Bringing local businesses, community organizations, and government agencies together to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, both natural and manmade.

We aim to alleviate suffering caused by disasters through enhancing communication, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration. Ensuring the Mat-Su’s ability to prepare, respond, recover, and mitigate during times of disasters.

Mat-Su VOAD encourages all community members to become knowledgeable about disaster and emergency management.

2018 Earthquake Response: Mat-Su VOAD and partners responded to the November 2018 Earthquake immediately, assisting Mat-Su residents with sanitation and drinking water, winter gear for students, home cleanup and repair, heating oil, firewood, pet food and other basic needs.
2019 McKinley Wildfire Longterm Recovery Group: In the wake of the widespread wildfires affecting the Upper Susitna, Willow, Talkeetna, Caswell and surrounding areas, Mat-Su VOAD activated to provide case management, grants management, financial assistance, volunteer and donations coordination and other compassionate support to residents displaced by the fires.
