United Way of Mat-Su Week of Caring
What is Week of Caring?
Originally a single “Day of Caring”, this annual Valley-wide volunteer effort was expanded to an entire week several years ago, in order to accommodate more projects and a wider schedule. Week of Caring brings United Way of Mat-Su’s expertise in volunteer recruitment and coordination to benefit our fellow nonprofits. Nonprofits from around the Mat-Su are encouraged to submit any spring projects they may need help with, so that UWMS can recruit and deploy volunteers to ensure that those projects get done.
Our 2024 Week of Caring took place from May 20-24. We are so grateful to each and every volunteer whose hard work resulted in:
- Over 50 Mat-Su volunteers
- A dozen projects completed at project sites ranging from Sutton to Houston
- Over 300 hours of dedicated labor contributed
- Very happy nonprofit partners!
- Very happy volunteers!
We’d like to thank the following local businesses and volunteers for their dedication during Week of Caring:
Avigail & Marvilie Shaver. Crystal Helmericks & Family. First National Bank Alaska. LINKS Parent Resource Center. Matanuska Electric Association. Mat-Su Health Foundation.
