Mayoral Proclamation for Alaska 2-1-1 Day

Whereas, the Mat-Su Borough recognizes the contribution made to the community through United Way of Mat-Su’s Alaska 2-1-1 project; and

Whereas, increasing awareness of Alaska 2-1-1 will increase access to information about and referrals to services providing members of the Mat-Su community lower cost and safer options for managing needs and is likely to reduce confusion, duplication, frustration and inaccessibility to services, and

Whereas Alaska 2-1-1 provides quality information and referral services that are key entry to the Mat-Su Borough’s entire health and human service delivery system,

Now therefore, I proclaim that the Mat-Su Borough designates February 11, 2009 as Alaska 2-1-1 Day, to raise public awareness about the existence and importance of Information and Referral services throughout the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
